Okay, so it's almost been a year since I got married in Evergreen,Colorado. I promised myself I'd write blogs for each vendor, so you brides and grooms out in google land can easily find a testimony of my vendors. Today is Dore Huss, owner of Stems in Evergreen.

I will start out by saying this, the flowers were one of the most important details of my wedding. I visited countless florist sites, and view bouquet photos to no end. My eyes would glaze over,my vitals dropping as I looked for that Gem of a florist to trust with my wedding vision. Not to mention the hundreds of faux wedding flower bouquets on etsy!

Alas, I was a bride on a budget. My groom and I paid for the whole wedding ourselves, except for a cash gift amount from a dear person. This made me nervous. Also, I live in Florida and was getting married in Evergreen,Colorado. Double nervous.

Having to find a florist long distance, I wasn't sold on the florist I first visited. They seemed pushy, didn't listen, and I felt just "didn't get" the feel I was looking for. So I turned to google.

Here's my attempt to describe Dore Huss and Stems in Evergreen: fresh, organic, natural, professional, lively, and artistic. I use "organic" to describe the wonderful green feeling of her work and shop.

Strolling in to Dore's shop, I felt like I was on a date. I was nervous. I couldn't explain the exact vision that I was after, but a few random photos. She took the time to meet with me, and her brainstorming started a creative fire. Within minutes, everything was planned and taken care of. All those months of beating my head on the desk ended. She took note of our likes, and I really sense she is good at "reading people."

Dore is the type of person you'd want to be friends with, she's passionate, smart, has inner strength, and just plain cool. Enter the fantasy of being able to parade into her shop all the time, shoot the breeze and by a lovely, lush rose. She defines the unique style of Evergreen,Colorado. She defines the treasure and mystery held there. Plus, there is something damn alluring about a person who goes after a dream, like owning a flower shop.

The inside of her shop is BEAUTIFUL, or as Cartman of South Park would say"Kick ass." It's so unique, I can't define it. Just go if you ever have a chance, and find yourself in a flower wonderland that is anything but cookie cutter.

She was also excellent with helping me achieve my flower dreams on a modest budget. The flowers fricken rocked. Here's a good point, brides: it was a modest budget. I didn't expect her to work miracles with pennies. Sometimes us budget brides need to remember things cost money, but the right vendor can work with your budget with taste and grace.

Our wedding centerpieces were sunflowers and orange circus roses in glass, square vases. The altar was decorated with a few sunflowers tied with ribbon that matched my dress. My groom wore a boutonnière with the exotic dendrobium orchid orchid, and the rest of the guys had yellow pom pom flowers. The bouquets were blue hydrangea, orange circus roses, hypericum berries, and lily grass sprays.

On my wedding day, I was astonished to enter my bridal room and see the bouquets. For a moment, I didn't know they were mine! I thought it was decoration for the bridal room. My mouth dropped, seeing my flower fantasy come true that would make David Tuttera satisfied.

So, I will let the photos do the talking. Rest assured, the flowers were so much more beautiful in person for my September wedding. Dreamy. I about cried leaving them behind in Colorado, but I plan on having Dore re-create my bouquet next time I am out there when the flowers are in season. I will have to post more photos later, as I want to get this post published.:)

Her team was awesome, the design was great. The flowers were on time. Stems in Evergreen is a professional, creative, rockin' flower shop.

I challenge the people who "don't care for" flowers to visit. Something will hook you. I love flowers, and about wanted to become a florist after my excellent experience.

Thanks to Dore for all the hard work and inspiration. You truly made the visual part of my wedding magical and beyond my expectations.
